Why I give to the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County

How can our legal system be just, fair and impartial if the system is not available to all? I support the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County because it provides exceptional legal services to our County’s low income residents in need, and because I believe Legal Aid helps maintain the integrity of our legal system.

I support the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County because I know from my experience working in the Health Consumer Center, and my continuing volunteer work, that Legal Aid provides invaluable legal services for those in our county who need help the most. I believe that everyone deserves access to legal services. With the help of an attorney, someone’s life can truly be changed for the better.
— Marina C. Gruber / Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP

We give to Legal Aid because we believe that everyone should have a voice in our system of justice, regardless of their income. We know that Legal Aid will use our donation to fight for people who need help, and that the need for our collective support has never been greater.

It should be obvious to anyone, but I acknowledge that although motives vary, the mission remains.Jim Sparks and I were the first attorneys to serve in the infancy, begun when some local stars of the County Bar recognized the need. Doris Olson serves as our coordinator. Fortunately for those to be served, Legal Aid has matured into the current model. So, naturally, my association with Legal Aid was very close to me and the need so readily apparent. I always felt more could be done and my small part in support starts there.
