Housing Clinic/Unlawful Detainer Training
This training is an expansion of our current housing intake clinics where volunteers assist in preparing pro per answers to unlawful detainer complaints. This training will prepare you to provide limited scope representation at settlement conferences of unlawful detainers at the weekly settlement calendar at the Redwood City Courthouse.
The training will cover basic defenses to unlawful detainer complaints, typical terms to watch for in settlements, and negotiation strategy. Volunteers will sign up in advance for a Thursday 1:30 calendar in Redwood City, and that day be assigned a Legal Aid client to represent at a settlement conference under the supervision of our able housing attorney, Shirley Gibson.
