PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo provides free legal advice and assistance to disadvantaged people who are serving in a caregiver role. To see if you are eligible for Legal Aid help, please call (650) 558-0915.

Caregivers Legal Assistance Network acts as an advocate for family members caring for seniors aged 60 and over. This service is also available to grandparents over the age of 60 acting as the primary caregivers to minor children. We answer questions related to:

• Simple wills
• Medi-Cal
• Medicare Part D appeals and exceptions
• Legal representation for conservatorships
• Health coverage
• Advanced Health Care Directives, so that individuals can appoint caregivers to make decisions on about their health care in accordance with their wishes

Taking care of a loved one can be a stressful experience. Legal Aid strives to ease the burden with our assistance.

Read Maria’s story to learn how Legal Aid successfully advocated that she become full guardian of her three young grandchildren.
