Conservatorship Pro Bono Project helps low-income persons seeking help with the complicated legal process of applying for a conservatorship. A conservatorship is a legal right given to a person to be responsible for the assets and finances of someone else. It is usually needed when a person being cared for is no longer able to make health, financial, or life decisions. Legal Aid helps caregivers of seniors or parents/guardians of adults with disabilities in the following areas:

• Complete the necessary legal documents
• Represent our clients in court to obtain approval for a conservatorship

The decision to seek a conservatorship of a loved one is not an easy one, and Legal Aid is experienced at handling the legal and emotional issues that arise during these proceedings.

Read Ava’s story to learn how Legal Aid helped her obtain a conservatorship of her disabled daughter Heidi, ensuring her long-term care.
