PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Legal Aid Society provides free legal advice and assistance to low-income families and children with special needs. To see if you are eligible for Legal Aid help, please call (650) 558-0915.

Safety Net Services help disadvantaged San Mateo County children and adults meet basic needs for food and shelter. We provide legal representation to those who are incorrectly denied food stamps or subsistence income benefits and answer questions related to:

• Food stamps
• CalWORKS
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Section 8 housing

The erroneous denial of benefits can have a devastating impact on a needy family trying to make ends meet. Legal Aid works with the appropriate state, federal, and local agencies to correct the situation and renew the necessary benefits.
