The Domestic Violence Collaborative Pro Bono Project of San Mateo County

Help low-income domestic violence survivors get essential protective orders to escape the violence and create a safe environment for their children by providing limited scope pro bono representation at their permanent restraining order hearings.

When: Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm

Where: Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, 201 Redwood Shores Parkway, Suite 500, Redwood City (MCLE credit will be given)

Pro Bono Referral Process:
Self-represented domestic violence survivors prepare and receive an ex parte Temporary Restraining Order through Bay Area Legal Aid’s Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic. Pro bono attorneys receive a copy of all legal pleadings and supporting information approximately two weeks before the scheduled hearing (in Redwood City every Wednesday at 9 a.m. and alternating Fridays in SSF and Redwood City at 9 a.m.) from Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.

Support for all Pro Bono Cases includes: MCLE training; malpractice insurance; and mentorship from experienced family law attorneys.

How to sign up: Registration is required. Please contact Janet Seldon, Director of Pro Bono, Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County at jbseldon@legalaidsmc.org.
