An increasing number of San Mateo County children and adults need assistance to meet their basic needs for food and shelter. The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County's Safety Net Services Project provides legal representation to those who are incorrectly denied food stamps or subsistence income benefits and answers questions related to:

  • CalFresh/Food stamps
  • CalWORKs
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Section 8 Housing

The erroneous denial of benefits can have a devastating impact on a needy family trying to make ends meet. Legal Aid works with the appropriate state, federal, and local agencies to correct the situation and renew the necessary benefits.
